I love to rearrange furniture. I mean I REALLY LOVE to rearrange furniture, sometimes to the point of getting "those looks" from my beloved. It would be so much simpler if I would actually use a diagram like the one pictured above, but that would be much too obvious. How in the world can you actually determine how YOUR furniture will really look unless you move it. And move it. And move it again.
Now take this method, for example. (See below:)
Notice that the unidentified man with the cap has not yet slung his cap across the room because the chair won't go through the door. The unidentified man in the red shirt has not even left kick marks on the WHITE chair in a fit of frustration because that chair is obviously not going through that door. (And WHO can keep a chair that white??) I really think this particular picture qualifies for fake news. And I'd like to meet the woman who can find not one, but TWO men who are willing to help move a chair. Yep, it's fake news.
Since moving to the pasture, furniture moving is not as much of a challenge as it once was. We had to downsize considerably and my triple china cabinet was the first piece to go, followed by pretty much everything else that was not pasture-worthy. So now when my furniture moving notion strikes, it's just a little less dramatic than it used to be, but it does require just a little pre-planning / damage control. Ideally, deer season is a good furniture moving time, but I hate to limit myself to only a few times a year. If all the planets are lined up just so, I can ask my beloved to run to the grocery store, which will give me just about enough time to get everything pulled to the middle of the room before he gets back and gives me "the look". (In all honesty, after thirty-onederful years, "those looks" are few and far between. I guess you might say he's just given up on keeping the furniture in the same place - except for The Man Room - even I know not to touch anything in The Man Room.)
So here are a few things to consider if you, too, want to want to rearrange a few things of your own:
1. Why do you think you want to move things around?
2. Is this a good time to move things around?
3. Do you think that doing all that work will really be worth it?
4. Do you have some cleaning to do before, or should you wait until everything has been moved?
5. Will this new arrangement make you happy?
6. Do you need to purchase something special to help with the rearranging?
7. Do you need to ask for help?

You know where I'm going with this, don't you? Do you have things in your life that need to be rearranged? I know I do. Do you have issues or habits that need to be moved completely out of your life? Now's a good time! Do you think a life rearrangement will really be worth it? The rewards are eternal! Do you think that you can let go of some of those habits that are sooooo much fun or bring you soooo much happiness, but all the while knowing that these habits are probably not suited for a closer walk with God? (But you know that He loves us in spite of those habits, right? Jesus knows me, this I love!!) Are there areas of your life that need cleaning up? Just like when we move furniture and find popcorn kernels under the recliner, once that chair is moved, you've got some cleaning up to do. Will a total rearrangement really make you happy? Yes indeed! It's the peace that passes all understanding. Do you need anything special to help with the move? Nope, just come as you are. Do you need to ask for help? Of course you do - your burdens were never meant to be carried alone. Just a simple prayer can turn your life upside down and make you feel like you have a brand new start - kinda like rearranging that furniture and feeling like you've got a brand new room. Can you think of anything more wonderful than having the Master Designer help with your rearranging projects! His services are limitless and the price has already been paid.

(Sometimes I like to insert a scripture here, or maybe a line from an old hymn that has a particular meaning for what I've written. But the only lyrics that I can hear right now are the words to that old spiritual, "I Shall Not Be Moved".
I shall not be using that one for this time. I'm sure you understand why.)
